I Got Hurt Helping My Brother Move

When I helped my brother move to a new apartment, I was not worried about taking precautions. We all regularly lift weights, we are young, and yeah, we think we can do anything. Well, I found out on the second day of moving his furniture that simply is not true. I knew as soon as I lifted my end of the couch up onto the truck that something happened to my back. I was still able to help a bit, but the pain was really bad the next day. I made an appointment with a San Rafael chiropractor after I woke up feeling worse rather than better.

I might have been naive to think I was invincible, but I am not stupid. I knew something was wrong, and I knew that the best professional to help me would be someone who works with back issues every day. I was able to get in later that day, which made me happy because I had no idea what I should even do to treat myself for the pain that I was feeling. I had not been to a chiropractor before, so I was not sure what to expect, but hopefully the end result would be relief.

I was in a lot of pain when I went in, but that is because I wouldn’t take any pain pills that day. I did not want the pain to be diminished any so the chiropractor could tell exactly what was happening with my back when he examined me. I had my first adjustment that day, and I went back twice more that week. I felt really good after the third visit, and there was no lingering pain. I get teased by my brother a lot that I did that just to get out of helping him, but I would sure pick something a lot less painful if that was my plan!
